Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Your resume must reflect the ability to perform tasks including:
journeyman level heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work which involves troubleshooting the equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to isolate the problem to the malfunctioning component, or assembly and performing repairs; making modifications and performing test calibrations in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and procedures, repair HVAC systems and equipment and back flow preventer systems; working under the supervision of a work leader or journey level employee who reviews work for completion. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen OutAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Knowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble shooting Physical Effort - Employee exerts a considerable amount of physical effort in maneuvering large equipment into and out of specific locations while dismantling and reassembling. Required to frequently carry and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Uses hoist, holders, and pulleys when moving large compressors, condensers, and chillers. Repairs and installs from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms where the parts of systems are frequently in hard to reach places. Required to stoop, stretch, bend, and kneel for long periods of time. Working Conditions - Works scheduled irregular tours without supervision. Work is performed inside and outside, frequently in cramped and awkward positions. Work is frequently performed in areas that are dirty and greasy and on concrete floors. May be required to wear facemasks and protective clothing, when there is a possibility of exposure to toxic refrigerants. Required to wear safety shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection in noise hazard areas. Subject to falls, cuts and bruises. Required to work in confined spaces.
